Hof van Twente: the all-in-one territory

In 2001 the municipalities Ambt Delden, Diepenheim, Goor, Markelo en Stad Delden were merged together in the new municipality Hof van Twente.

From May 2006 the organisation has been accommodated in the newly built townhall in Goor.
Except for the rural cores as mentioned above, there are several hamlets within our district boundaries.

In Hof van Twente  – mid-east of Holland, 21.500 acres -  more than 35.000 inhabitants are settled who either or both live, work and recreate in our attractive region. Except for our urban areas, we do have spacious agricultural territories and beautiful natural surroundings. Throughout the year, many tourists visit our region especially for this factor. They find it pleasant to stay here and enjoy our hospitality.

In 2006 a prominent magazine, Elsevier, stated that Hof van Twente is one of the most pleasant municipalities in Holland to live in.

Quality of life is most important in Hof van Twente. Our aim is to create a community that is attractive to live and stay in. With facilities which, as far as possible, have been spread out throughout the region. In spite of the merging of the municipalities in 2001 to one, many inhabitants still experience a strong social and economical solidarity with the activities on cultural, sports, festivities and folkloristic events in their own rural core. Those activities also determine the typical character and identity of the cores. If it were in the hands of the council of Hof van Twente, it is to stay that way.
